About New Flamenco Project

New Flamenco Project was established in 2008 to create and to show the art of flamenco. The beginnings, the story, the mysteries through many centuries of forming an end result that continues to captivate with the fierceness of the footwork, the cries of singing and the many rhythms of flamenco guitar playing.

MARCOIRIS

Flamenco guitarist and music composer

A Spanish and Latin virtuoso of the guitar.

Leading proponent of the new flamenco style.
Noted for his fast and fluent picados and rasgueados (flamenco strumming) with more sensitive playing and is known for adding abstract cordsand scale tones to his composition with jazz influences.

Marcoiris has been travelling around the world for 18 years performing in 23 countries. Eleven years in Spain, studying Flamenco and performing. He has also been to one of the state-of-the-art music and art colleges in Spain, studying Jazz and other rhythms. He has visited Latin countries and has incorporated Brazilian melodies also along with classical guitar.

LA GITANA DE MADRID

Flamenco dancer and choreographer

 Born in Madrid, Spain.

Grew up in a flamenco loving family
with a flamenco singer as a father.

Studied at the arts academy of flamenco dancing and learnt the traditional flamenco, and has later evolved personally to a mixture of traditional and modern.

Arrived in Australia 20 years ago and has performed all over Australia in many festivals, private functions, events, schools etc.

She also teaches flamenco at different schools.

IZAC DANIEL

Percussionist

Well embedded in rhythms from all over the world including flamenco.

The “cajon” used in flamenco was brought from Peru by the famous guitarist Paco De Lucia to accompany and lift the flamenco rhythms.
